2020 has revealed our dangerous nationalist biases

While Donald Trump’s campaign of stupidity continues, now several weeks after he lost the election, we are now watching a full clown car of hysteria and paranoia consume the Republican Party. Literally months after losing the election, Trump continues to claim that the election was stolen from him, with the only proof he’s been able to offer is his firmly held delusion that he’s a “winner“.

Then there are the millions of American voters who actually believe this idiot’s delusions of grandeur. After sixty state and federal court cases brought by Trump’s lawyers and three state wide recounts in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, and Georgia, not a single election result in these four contested states has even come close to being overturned, but Trump continues to claim fraud, and his idiotic supporters continue to believe him.

Now, after years of Trump’s hysterically ironic appeals to militants and threats of violent civil unrest, many of his brain dead supporters are now promising violence. There isn’t a day that goes by that a Trump supporter somewhere isn’t issuing a death threat to someone or talking about the “coming Civil War“, and let’s be real here. There’s 74 million dead heads who supported Trump in the last election, if even 0.01% of these murderous clowns follow through on their sociopathic tendencies, that’s still 7,400 idiots that will be up in a clock tower, because they believe everything Donald Trump tells them.

I repeat, if even only one one-hundredth of 1% of the kookiest of Donald Trump’s kook supporters decide to resort to militant violence, we are talking about a civilian blood bath on a scale that has never been seen in the United States at any time in its history. And the bloodbath has already started. In Kenosha, WI, armed militants dressed in fatigues and armed with long rifles were roaming the streets in an American city, pointing their guns at American citizens with zero legal authority to do so. And the police did nothing to stop them. How did that end?

Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old vigilante with a gun that he wasn’t even legally allowed to own, let alone carry, murdered two people and shot a third, and he wasn’t even part of the militia. He was just some dopey Trump supporting kid who had been convinced by Trump and these (white) nationalist militias that things are so out of control that non-police, non-military civilians, armed with guns, needed to confront their fellow citizens without any legal authority to do so. Kyle, and the nuts like him, is exactly the one in one-hundredth of 1% that I’m talking about.

And, just to put a point on how ridiculous this entire Trump movement actually is, can you imagine the Founding Fathers publicly plotting sedition and announcing their intent to revolt? Just how incredibly stupid must Trump supporters be to announce on social media their intent to engage in a violent uprising targeting their countrymen? These people aren’t interested in overthrowing tyranny. They want violence, because they revel in it. They aren’t intelligent enough to understand the philosophical ideals that are essential to liberty. To them, it’s just another excuse to harm other people.

Enough is enough. Trump can’t be out of office soon enough, and it’s clear that Republican politicians can no longer be trusted in office either. Hopefully 2021 will be a better year for the cause of principled conservatism after the orange goon is finally gone. As far as 2020 is concerned, however, good riddance to this year of plagues, despots, and fascist paranoia. Happy New Year.
