In order to take up arms against the Crown of England, forever forfeiting their citizenship to the most powerful European power of the age, and committing themselves and their countrymen to a war that would mean their very lives should they lose, the Founding Fathers must have possessed a crystal clear compass of principles, ethics, and morality. A sense of right and wrong so precise and so intense that it was worth dying for. Do we, as Americans, still possess such a compass?
It is these principles, ethics, and morality that have been eroded in our society, and many claim to be conservatives, but what does that even mean? If we aren’t conserving anything, are we really conservatives? If we are conserving something, then what are we trying to conserve?
Here are four articles intended to illuminate the four bedrock values of conservatism: Life, Liberty, Property (Pursuit of Happiness), and Rule of Law. Rediscover these very American principles and learn how they have come under attack in our society. More importantly, once you come to recognize these core values, you can better defend them against those who seek to compromise and piecemeal these principles away. Spread the word, patriots.
