One of the most frustrating things I’ve had to deal with on a daily basis ever since the election are these obnoxious American voters who claim loudly to somehow be stalwart defenders of the Constitution one moment, but, with their very next breath, they openly attack the First Amendment protections of the religious rights of American Muslims, the speech rights of Black National Football League players, the press rights of American media, the assembly rights of Black Lives Matter, and the petition rights of a whole lot of people who disagree with the current administration.

Even more vexing is when these hypocritical goons not only refer to themselves as “conservatives“, but go so far as to declare themselves as the only “true conservatives“. It’s even worse than when the far left demagogues do it, because these ignorant nationalists actually believe it. Even Hillary Clinton, of all of the people in the entire world, recognized that there was a difference between the meat headed nationalism of MAGA and the traditional American conservatism of Ronald Reagan.

American conservatism begins and ends with the self-evident assumption described in the Declaration of Independence, “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” As imperfectly as the Founders may have implemented these values, they first fully bloomed in America, and none who advocates against these values to the detriment of anyone else can call themselves an honest conservative.

And yet, every single day, I can find example after example of these despicable people espousing actual tyranny under the rubric of conservatism. Even pluralism, a core virtue of American conservatism, has its limits, and a patriot can not, must not, tolerate the intolerable. I no longer tolerate the slander of my ideology, most especially by inarticulate rubes who seek to turn America into a gross parody of religious intolerance, silenced speech, persecuted dissent, and mandatory patriotism, especially while supporting a president who openly suggested eliminating presidential term limits in the United States.
