Unconscious Racism Really is Racist

Let’s get something out of the way, right now. If you walk into a parking lot and see a man helpless on the ground, desperately trying to protect himself from several other men beating him with poles, sticks, and clubs, and your first instinct is to run in and punch the man on the ground, then, Alex Michael Ramos, you deserve to be that guy on the ground every single day of your 6 years in prison for malicious wounding.

In case you don’t know who I’m talking about, Alex Michael Ramos is a self described “conservative” who saw a fight in a parking garage during the August 12th, 2017 “Unite the Right” white racist march in Charlottesville, VA, where white racists murdered a counter protestor and left dozens, such as DeAndre Harris, who Alex attacked, seriously injured with multiple injuries, because, at least for the racists, “free speech” is for whites only.

Before turning himself in to the Sheriff’s office in 2017, Alex Michael Ramos spoke with reporters and claimed to be a “conservative” and not associated with any of the several white racists who were attacking the helpless and barely conscious DeAndre Harris in the Charlottesville, VA parking garage. He also posted on his Facebook, shortly after the attack, “We stomped some ass. Getting some was [expletive] fun.

While the nation’s attention momentarily remained focused on the Trump White House’s inexcusable failure to condemn the overtly racist violence of the “Unite the Right” rally, Americans quickly went right back to ignoring the racism problem in America and the deep reactionary ethnic identitarianism that runs right through the heart of the Republican Party’s “Make America Great Again” movement.

Trump supporters desperately want to pretend that Alex Ramos wasn’t wearing a red “Make America Great Again” cap when he punched a black man laying helpless on the ground. They also want to pretend that the thousands of white men wearing white polo shirts and khakis yelling “Jews will not replace us!” and “White power!” weren’t also Trump voters. Unfortunately, this is America.

The openly militant racist, the kind of dirtbag that would attack an unarmed man lying helpless on the ground simply because he’s black, is what most Americans think of as being “racist“, but attacking a helpless black man isn’t what makes someone a racist. Before attacking a helpless black man laying on the ground could even seem like a morally justifiable action, a person must first already be a racist.

Further, for every red MAGA hat wearing thug who is stupid enough to punch a helpless black man lying on the ground and brag about it on Facebook the next day, there are literally thousands of red MAGA hat wearing thugs who will argue that the helpless black man deserved it, like this Trump supporter did on Facebook.

It doesn’t stop there, however, because for every red MAGA cap wearing thug who will argue that a helpless and unarmed black man deserved to be viciously assaulted by several armed white men, there are literally thousands more red MAGA capped supporters who will attack you literally all day long simply for talking about racism in America but won’t spend a single second of their lives addressing the racism that infests their social media timelines.

This unconscious racism is, in every respect, a far more dangerous threat to the cause of American liberty than the open racism of the 2017 Charlottesville rally, because the bloodshed of the white nationalists wakes Americans up to the ugly hate that runs through the heart of American politics. It is the unconscious racism of racist enablers that puts American back to sleep so nothing ever changes.

Don’t go back to sleep.

Agreed. In fact, most Trump supporters I’ve debated these issues with claim to be the least racist people of all, and of course I’m racist for bringing up racism! Being that deep in denial allows them to get away with almost anything.

the man was on the ground for instigating violence. He got what he deserved and then some. It’s laughable you portray him as a victim. You snowflakes must live in a fantasy land where you think you can punch people and then claim your a victim when your actions cause you to get your ass kicked or killed. This is the real world and for some who block streets punch and kick it was a hard learned lesson. More will follow no doubt as some sheep who are on puppets string have to learn the hardway.
