The strongest argument offered by socialists against capitalism is the problem of greed. This argument is basically that capitalism is bad because it perpetuates social and economic inequality (used interchangeable in socialist theory) by allowing the wealth class to commodify resources and labor at the expense of the working class.

It’s clear without delving deep into the weeds of utopian socialist theories that socialists believe that a) the wealth class and the working class are necessarily in conflict and b) socialism effectively eliminates the wealth class and thus resolves the “haves” and “have nots” conflict. This is, of course, ridiculous, but let’s assume they’re right.

Assuming that disassembling the mechanisms of the capitalist market actually do make it impossible for the wealth class to accumulate unchecked wealth, does the disassembling of capitalist markets really mean that there are no other avenues for accumulating unchecked wealth? No, because political power still exists under socialism.

The same wealth class who seek to accumulate unchecked wealth under capitalism don’t simply vanish into the night like vampires fleeing the crucifixes and garlic of socialist egalitarianism just because the market is gone. Absent the markets, these sociopaths (and they are sociopaths) seek the next best thing: unchecked political power.

As it turns out, political power comes with both the benefits of indirect access to wealth and the added benefit of direct political power over people’s lives, and if there is one thing sociopaths love more than money, it’s power over other people’s lives. The socialists end up turning turning the wealth class into the political class.

Can anyone really be stupid enough to believe that putting the same anti-social disordered personalities that socialists believe run the markets in charge of our lives is an improvement of our situation? Don’t get me wrong, ironically most politicians are also usually somewhere on the anti-social disordered spectrum as well.

By getting rid of capitalist markets, socialists merely push the pathological monsters into political careers. Only a fool could believe this would be better than what we have now, and that’s the problem with socialists (and humanity in general), it’s not simply that they are ignorant of the lessons of history, it’s that they simply don’t care.
